Job Title: GCP Data Engineer Remote UK Shift We are seeking a Data Engineer to lead the end-to-end design, ensure cross-component integration, and maintain the architectural integrity of the platform from development through global production. Key Skills Cloud Architecture, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Google Cloud Run, BigQuery, CloudSQL/Firestore, Google API Gateway, Solution Design, Microservices Architecture, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Terraform, Network Security, Private Service Connect (PSC), Cloud NAT, Disaster Recovery (DR), High Availability (HA), FinOps, API Governance, OAuth 2.0, System Integration, SDLC. Key Responsibilities (Strategic Design & Governance) * End-to-End Blueprinting: Own the holistic architectural roadmap, ensuring Google Cloud Run, Big Query, and Google API Gateway work in a seamless, high-performance ecosystem. * Component Orchestration: Design the interaction patterns between microservices, external identity providers, and data verifcation APIs. * Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs): Architect for high availability (99.99% SLA), scalability to handle burst loads, and disaster recovery strategies that meet strict RTO/RPO targets. * Security & Compliance Architecture: Defne the security posture for the platform, including Zero-Trust networking (PSC/NAT), encryption at rest/transit, and robust audit logging. * Cost Governance & Optimization: Drive the FinOps strategy, balancing performance requirements against the infrastructure budget to ensure an efcient cloud spend. * Cross-Functional Leadership: Act as the primary technical liaison between business stakeholders, DevOps leads, and the development teams to ensure technical decisions align with business goals. Technical Requirements (Must-Haves) * Architectural Experience: 8+ years in software or systems architecture, with at least 4 years focused on Google Cloud Platform. * Enterprise Integration: Proven track record of designing complex integrations involving Google API Gateway, Identity Providers (Auth0/Okta), and high-scale databases. * Infrastructure Knowledge: Deep understanding of serverless architecture and modern networking (VPCs, Firewalls, Load Balancing). * Decision Frameworks: Strong ability to conduct "Build vs. Buy" analyses and defend architectural choices to executive leadership. Preferred Qualifcations * Certifcations: Google Professional Cloud Architect (PCA) is highly preferred. * Legacy Migration: Experience migrating enterprise platforms from legacy on-prem or monolith systems to cloud-native architectures.
